It's springtime in Southern California and the jacarandas are in bloom. I took this on my way to work this morning:

USC's Commencement ceremonies are Friday, and the campus is busy preparing itself for a visit from all its cash-depleted parents. This is the view from my office window today:

We asked the waiter at Acapulco's to take a picture of our Mother's Day brunch, and this is the best he could come up with. At least he was generous with the champagne.
